”Cheongdam-dong Alice” was mentioned by a presidential candidate!
After the last primary debate, each of the 10 candidates vying for the presidency on December 18 began the secondary debate with discussions on major issues such as the economy, welfare, labor, and environmental sectors.
Last night in the secondary debate, the candidate began her assault by citing the drama “Cheongdam-dong Alice”.
“This is the biggest crisis of the Republic of Korea,” the candidate said. “Keangnam Enterprises Chairman Ching has not been paying gift and excise tax on more than 300 houses in Seongbuk-dong since 1980, and the Blue House has not done anything about this.”
The candidate said she was surprised to hear the line in “Cheongdam-dong Alice” when one of the characters said said he could not afford to buy an apartment.
The candidate also mentioned that in the drama “Cheongdam-dong Alice” starring Moon Geun Young and Park Si Hoo, the MGY character Han Se Kyung struggles to climb the social ladder to become a Cheongdam-dong daughter-in-law and the PSH character Cha Seung Jo is full of snobbery and disdain for such kind of behavior.
