Moon Geun Young Instagram Update [April 26, 2016]

After coming back from volunteering with Good Neighbors in Malawi, Moon Geun Young has finally posted on her Instagram account. Moons reflects on her experiences in her latest update. She writes,

"I went and came back safely and well.
I was ashamed of my life at times while facing good eyes and pure souls.
Then this helplessness, how I was unable to be any help, made my heart break.
I am finally trying to be concerned.
So their lives can get a little better. So they can be a little more healthy.
I will find the things I am able to do.
I want to protect their pure happiness, their flawless and clean smiles.
I ask to those of you who see these words. Even a very very small concern for them can be a great force. Take an interest in life that has been run over and buried. Together please protect the children’s bright smiles. I ask you, even a small interest.

Jin Ji Hee mentioned Moon Geun Young on her interview

[INTERVIEW] Actress Jin Ji-hee who played the younger version of Jung-Yi (Moon Geun Young) in "Goddess of Fire"

Q. You played the younger version of actress Moon Geun-young’s character. It must’ve felt different since Moon started as a child actor as well.

Jin: My role model changes all the time, but I set her as my new role model this time. She was very considerate, maybe because she experienced life as a child actor too, and has a huge passion for acting. I’ve come to want to learn all those things from her. When I first heard I would get to play the child version of her character, I was so happy. It was an honor.

Q. Moon had to go through growing pains as a child actor and you too, will have to experience it in the process of becoming an adult. What are your thoughts on it?

Jin: I haven’t had a chance to really think it over. But in a way, I think I’d like to show a completely different side to me when I grow up, while on the other hand, I also want to change slowly.

“Goddess of Fire” Takes the Winning Baton from “Kang Chi”

New MBC series “Goddess of Fire” has taken its first crown after running neck and neck with other two dramas on the Monday and Tuesday prime time lineup.

The brand-new period-set drama sat atop TV charts after drawing in an average viewership rating of 11.1 percent on July 1 and 2, AGB Nielsen Media Research (Nielsen Korea) showed on Wednesday.

The first two episodes of the 32-part epic kicked off by well-depicting the unavoidable romantic fate between inborn potter Jung (Moon Geun-young, child actress Jin Ji-hee) and Joseon Dynasty’s prince Gwanghae (Lee Sang-yoon, child actor Roh Young-hak).

Stepping up to the runner-up spot was KBS’s romantic series “Don’t Look Back” which posted an average 9.9 percent rating after spending five weeks at the bottom of the chart.

New SBS series “Golden Empire,” starring Ko Soo and Lee Yo-won, began its run this week in last place with an average score of 8.8 percent in the same time frame.

The battle among the three dramas will be fierce since “Goddess of Fire” and “Golden Empire” just premiered and “Don’t Look Back” has yet to unfold its full-scale revenge regarded as the climax of the drama.

Meanwhile, TNmS’s (Total National Multimedia Statistic) survey showed the programs in the same order yet with slightly lower numbers.

“Goddess of Fire” took the top spot with an average score of 10.3 percent while “Don’t Look Back” and “Golden Empire” followed behind with ratings of 9.6 and 8.1 percent, respectively.

Moon Geun Young Compares ′Goddess of Fire Jeongi′ to ′Painter of the Wind′

Moon Geun Young will be returning to the period piece genre for the first time in five years. In MBC′s Goddess of Fire Jeongi, which will air its first episode on July 1, the actress will act as Joseon′s first ever female porcelain maker.

With her new role, she will again be depicting a female artist, one similar to the role she put on in 2008 through Painter of the Wind.

Goddess of Fire Jeongi is set in Joseon of the late 16th century, and talks of how Joseon′s first female porcelain maker, Yoo Jeong, paves her way toward success with her porcelain works.

In Painter of the Wind, Moon Geun Young appeared as Joseon′s genius painter Shin Yoon Bok.

Her appearance in the new period piece has especially been drawing interest as she won the SBS Drama Daesang with her last appearance.

Yoo Jeong was born with great senses, and she uses her innate abilities to make porcelain pieces. She later falls in love with the Crown Prince Gwanghae (Lee Sang Yoon), and works hard to become known as the first female porcelain expert.

Some showed concern over her new role, as it and her role in Painter of the Wind both worked in art and were born geniuses.

Moon Geun Young said on the issue, "Yoon Bok of Painter of the Wind and Jeongi of Goddess of Fire Jeongi share a lot of common factors. They were both born with talent, but they are hindered in their attempts to realize their dreams because of the situations they′re set in and their status in society."

She emphasized, however, that Yoon Bok and Jeongi are completely different.

"Yoon Bok tries to hide everything and works hard alone, but Jeongi is more candid and bold, and she steps forward as she learns. Jeongi is more positive and energetic," she said.

To add more realism to the drama, Moon Geun Young has even been learning how to make porcelain.

"I practiced at least two hours a day for three times a week over the course of two months," she said.

"I thought it wouldn′t be that hard, but when I tried I came to realize I had to imprint the knowledge on my body," she said. "My teacher also said, the more you work and the more time you pour into it, the better you become. I worked hard so that it wouldn′t look like I was merely imitating the work. Please look on with kind eyes even though I may look clumsy."

She added, "I was proud after Painter of the Wind because many more people started showing an interest in traditional paintings and related events started to take place. I found that people don′t pay much interest to traditional porcelain works. I hope they come to show more interest in them through this drama."

Moon Geun Young's recent mentions by AOA Hye Jeong and So Yi Hyun

So Yi Hyun, "Moon Geun Young is the Biggest Harvest I Gained from 'Cheongdam-dong Alice'"

Moon Geun Young was recently mentioned in an interview by So Yi Hyun:

"We still keep in touch with each other often, and while filming 'Cheongdam-dong Alice,' my biggest harvest was getting to know actress Moon Geun Young."

So Yi hyun continued, "Moon Geun Young is an actress who has a very clear view of acting. When we talk together, she seems like a teacher who has acted for a long time," and lavished with praise.

Through this project, one of the biggest harvests Hye Jeong gained was meeting Moon Geun Young, who is a wonderful mentor. She was a kind unni to Hye Jong, who helped relieve her anxiety, and also a precious senior, who taught her detailed acting guidance and know-how.

Hye Jeong said, "Before the first filming, I first met Moon Geun Young senior at the place where we took the family photo. I thought she would have a quiet personality, and I recall being surprised at her lively personality. Upon seeing me hesitating, she even first put her arm around my shoulder, and during filmings also, 'If I were Se Jin, wouldn't I try this,' she personally demonstrated and showed me which made me touched. Not just the character, but like a real older sister, she played jokes and treated me warmly so that I was able to easily adjust," and complimented Moon Geun Young fervently.

Hye Jeong: "Because I'm an only child, I didn't know the feeling of younger siblings well. I asked my member unnis or younger siblings what it's like to have siblings a lot... Geun Young unni also, like a real unni, took very good care of me on the film set."
