“Cheongdam-dong Alice” to be extended?

Theories that the SBS weekend drama “Cheongdam-dong Alice” will be extended are emerging.

“Cheongdam-dong Alice” starring Park Si Hoo and Moon Geun Young was originally planned for 16 episodes, so it should be closing on January 27. The SBS Drama Awards were held live on December 31, 2012, and CDDA was to be followed by “Incarnation of money” first week of February 2013.

Recently, however, in ”Cheongdam-dong Alice”, the love story between Han Se Kyung (Moon Geun Young) and Cha Seung Jo (Park Si Hoo) is developing. It is to be seen if its double-digit viewership will rise with the ending of MBC “May Queen”.

Moreover, the management agency of the leading man of “Incarnation of money” Kang Ji Hwan took out an injunction against him on Oct. 31, 2012 to stop all his entertainment activities, so the drama cannot start broadcasting on February 2 as scheduled. They are now shooting scenes of a child actor and they are watching the progress of events. They are thinking of replacing Kang Ji Hwan but because of overseas copyright, they are waiting for a solution to the problem.

A broadcasting official said: ” ‘Cheongdam-dong Alice’ has recently received acclaim and viewership has been rising. We are watching to see how the ‘Incarnation of money’ situation develops and whether it is feasible to extend ‘Cheongdam-dong Alice’.”

SBS said: “The decision whether to extend ‘Cheongdam-dong Alice’ depends on consultation between the writer and the director and also on the reaction to this week’s broadcast.”
